Meet William J. McKibben, DDS:
How long has your business been located in the Zaferia area of Long Beach?
My dental practice has been at 5175 Pacific Coast Highway in the Park Central Professional Building since 1982. Prior to that I was next door at 5199 PCH in a partnership practice with my long-time mentor and friend, Dr. Martin Garron.
What need does your business meet for residents of Long Beach?
We respect your time. We try to make each visit as efficient as possible and have early morning appointments that seem to be popular with self-employed business people. We are able to provide our patients with one-visit restorative dentistry because we make our ceramic crowns in our office using the CEREC procedure and milling machine. This means that we don’t need to make silicon impressions, the patient does not need to wear a temporary crown, and they don’t have to come back for another appointment. The material we use is biocompatible and metal-free, which patients are preferring more and more.
Why do your clients/customers select you over your competitors?
Most people are referred to our office from existing patients. My staff and I treat our patients individually. We really care about them and we take our time to assess their overall oral health. The fact that we can restore a patient’s smile in the least amount of time is one of the reasons so many busy professionals choose to come to our office. I also am a big believer in continuing education and teach other dentists with seminars at Esthetic Professionals in Tarzana. Photography is also a specialty of mine and we integrate it into our service. We have albums of before-and-after photos that potential clients are welcome to view.
What is your background and how did you get started with your business?
Martin Garron, who I mentioned earlier, was my dentist when I was a young man and he was the one who inspired me to go to dental school at Georgetown University after I completed my bachelor’s in biology at UC Irvine. I was born and raised in Long Beach and actually spent the first few years of my life living in the apartment building right behind our office building. I love Long Beach and wanted to stay here and grow my business.
